Nguyen Minh Nam, born in Bac Ninh, Vietnam, in 1978, is a prominent contemporary Vietnamese artist known for his exploration of culture, identity, and the tension between tradition and modernity. Graduating from the Vietnam University of Fine Arts in 2008, Minh Nam has gained international acclaim for his thought-provoking works that juxtapose Vietnam's past and present.

His distinctive technique involves layering transparent figures over traditional backdrops, symbolizing cultural dissonance and generational divides. The interplay of opaque and transparent elements in his art creates a visual yin-yang balance, with monochrome depictions of past generations reflecting simplicity and spirituality, contrasted by vibrant modern figures representing contemporary complexity.

Minh Nam’s art is driven by his reflections on Vietnam's rapid societal changes, offering a sincere, non-judgmental commentary on evolving values and morality. Viewing art as a serious profession, he is committed to creating works that invite contemplation on cultural shifts. His dedication has led to international recognition, with seven solo exhibitions in Vietnam and Germany since 2005 and participation in prestigious group exhibitions in Berlin, New York, and beyond. In 2017, he won first prize in the Vietart Today Young Professional Artist Competition, affirming his role as a leading figure in Vietnam's contemporary art scene.

Currently based in Hanoi, Minh Nam continues to document and interpret Vietnam's cultural evolution. His works are featured in significant private collections worldwide, resonating with collectors and art enthusiasts for their emotional depth and cultural relevance.
