When Nguyen Lam passed away on June 28, 2025, the Vietnamese art world lost a true giant. Over more than six decades, he devoted his life to painting, creating over 1,200 works that continue to inspire artists, collectors, and admirers around the world. At ArtBlue Studio, we feel this loss deeply, having had the opportunity to work closely with him and witness his extraordinary vision first-hand.
Phuong Nguyen, owner of ArtBlue Studio, had the privilege of working with Nguyen Lam for 20 years, during which she organized six solo exhibitions, including four in Singapore. His work spoke to people across cultures, bridging the local and the global through a language of colour, movement, and emotion.

On October 3, 2025, we celebrate his life and legacy with a 100th-day memorial exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City, featuring 25 abstract oil paintings. The works reveal the depth of Nguyen Lam’s vision; bold brushstrokes moving through atmospheric space, evoking memory, introspection, and a serene, meditative energy.
These canvases stand like silent lighthouses, illuminating his inner journey. Unlike the refined lacquer paintings that first brought him acclaim, his oil abstractions open a dreamlike realm: deep blacks embracing soft golds, gestures cutting through haze, like a boat gliding quietly across an ocean of memory.
Through this exhibition, we honour Nguyen Lam not only as a master painter but as an innovator who transformed Vietnamese modern art. His work continues to move us, inviting us to see, feel, and dream through the eyes of one of the most influential artists of his generation.
